Ballycastle all set for fair
All roads lead to Ballycastle this Bank Holiday Monday for Ireland’s oldest traditional market fair - ‘ The Auld Lammas Fair’.
Its exact origin is uncertain, but one theory is that it began as a result of the occupation of the area around Ballycastle by the MacDonnells of the Isles in the early part of the sixteenth century.
At the present day fair, street entertainment and market stalls attract thousands of people to the town.
