Ballymoney cadets learn new skills
Cadet Sgt Chloe McCartney from Ballymoney Detachment (16), who was taking part in the First Aid at Work course along with fellow Cadet Sgt Lewis Orr (16) also from Ballymoney, said: “I really enjoyed the course it has given me the skills to either teach the young cadets or more importantly I will be able to treat any one I come across with an injury.
Among the adult staff attending the course was Padre (Rev) Kenneth Crowe from Stranocum and minister at Bushvale Presbyterian Church.

Hide AdPadre Crowe said: ”I found the course very rewarding and it was great to work with the cadets and I now feel I have gained the skills required to be a good first aider.”
First Aid in the Army Cadet Force is taught through a syllabus, from the very junior cadet being taught how to call for help, right up to dealing with a multiple casualty scenario and treat the casualty for many different wounds, even getting the chance to take part in Regional and National First Aid competitions.
