Mr Durkan, who attended the ceremony, said: “June 15 didn’t just matter to the people of Derry but throughout Ireland and beyond.
“The families and relatives are getting this year’s award but it should be remembered there has been a 38 year struggle to exonerate their loved ones and have the truth proclaimed.
