Council raises the flag to mark Armed Forces Day
As part of celebrations taking place throughout the week leading up to Armed Forces Day on Saturday 25 June, Mid and East Antrim Borough Council has officially '˜Flown the Flag' at a ceremony at War Memorial Park, Ballymena.
The Lord Lieutenant for County Antrim, Joan Christie OBE, raised the flag in a small ceremony attended by Major Kevin Thomas, MBE, representing the armed forces.
The Mayor, Councillor Audrey Wales MBE, other Council members and the Council’s Chief Executive, Anne Donaghy also attended.
The Armed Forces Day Flag is also now flying at the Smiley Buildings, Larne and Carrickfergus Town Hall.
