Driver stuck after live cables collapse
PSNI officers, Fire Service personnel and NIE engineers attended the scene of the accident, which took place at Marshallstown Road at about 1.15pm. The overhead line was isolated around 2pm and the driver was able to get out of the vehicle.
An NIE spokesman told the TIMES that “a limited number of customers” were cut off from their electricity supply because of the incident, and the road was closed off for a time by police.

Hide AdHe added: “NIE would like to take this opportunity to remind lorry drivers and farmers to be aware of overhead electricity lines and poles when using machinery in the vicinity of electrical equipment.
“Any contact with the overhead electricity network can have potentially fatal consequences, therefore it is important that work in the vicinity of electrical equipment is planned carefully and that those involved stay at least fine metres away from the electricity network.“
