Schoolchildren get ready for Eco Week
Running from March 4-11, Eco Week is an educational initiative developed by Banbridge District Council in order to increase young people’s awareness of environmental issues.
Following on the success of last year’s week-long initiative, the council has once again teamed up with W5 to deliver a series of 45-minute interactive shows entitled ‘Wastebusters’.

Year 8 and 9 pupils from Newbridge College and St Patrick’s College will also have the opportunity to experience a special eco-show in the Iveagh Movie Studios on Monday 11 March. Tracy Fitzpatrick, Environmental Education Officer with Banbridge District Council, commented on this year’s initiative. “Now in its 11th year, the increasingly popular Eco Week complements the current curriculum used by schools. This year we are keen to teach schoolchildren about the facts and myths of recycling.
“W5 are providing an exciting, fun interactive show which will banish some common misunderstandings and focus on the importance of recycling and will demonstrate what we can all do at home and in school to help with this vital activity.
