Fifth of new babies in Mid Ulster born to non-national mums
Around a fifth of the babies born in the Mid Ulster District Council area were to mothers from outside Northern Ireland.
In the latest figures published by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA), there were 438 new citizens born to mothers of a foreign nationality living in the Mid Ulster area during 2013, the most recent period recorded.
That equates to 19.85% of the total of new births in the district, which was 2,206.
