Cranston admitted ownership of the vehicle. He claimed that he was not prepared to execute a right hand turn and this, combined with the road conditions, caused him to lose control of the vehicle.
A solicitor for the defendant said he was fully insured and the damage was covered.
She added that his unfamiliarity with the road and the adverse weather conditions contributed to what happened.
