Mayor expresses anger over decision
Elected Members held an emergency meeting with the Chief Executive and Directors of the Trust on December 20 to discuss the matter.
The Mayor, Councillor Margaret Tolerton, said: “The Council is committed to restoring 24 hour access to the Lagan Valley Hospital and I am both angry and disappointed at the decision of the Trust to implement this temporary reduction in opening hours at the Emergency Department.

Hide Ad“I would urge all the residents of Lisburn to continue to use the facilities at Lagan Valley Hospital where possible. This will help ensure its long term viability.”
Councillor Pat Catney, Chair of the Councils Corporate Services Committee has requested that senior officials from the South Eastern Health Trust attend the January Meeting of the Committee.
“The Committee will be holding the Trust to account on how they have reached this decision and the action plan they have in place to restore 24 hour access to our local hospital,” said Councillor Catney.
