Mitchelburne day - calling all Apprentice Boys to their annual parade
In the happy hangover from the anticipated banquet of culture that a UK appointee can reasonably expect, 2014 will be a bit of an aftermath for some but readers can be assured that the Mitchelburne and fellow Boys will celebrate the formation of one of the longest established local fraternities in appropriate fashion.
In the meantime, the Mitchelburne Club continue with the traditional founder's day celebrations. The parade assembles at Rossdowney Park to move off at 11am (sharp) to proceed to Bonds Street for a short act of remembrance in honour of Cecil McKnight and Gary Lynch, two members of the Club murdered by the IRA in 1991.
