Poignant service to dedicate RUC Station Crest in First Rathfriland Presbyterian
The service of Thanksgiving and Dedication was led by Reverend Trevor Boyd and was attended by dignitaries, including the Lord Lieutenant for County Down, Mr David Lindsay and local MLAs Jo-Anne Dobson and John McCallister.
Members of the Banbridge and South Down branch of the RUC George Cross Association attended the service with the Association’s Standards.

Hide AdUlster Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson, who attended the service, said, “The memorial crest is a fitting and appropriate way to remember the service and sacrifice of those who protected us through their brave service in the darkest days of our history.
“This plaque will stand as a lasting memorial to the memory of those who lost their lives while serving us in the line of duty.
“I send my best wishes to the members of the Banbridge and South Down branch of the Royal Ulster Constabulary GC Association for their continued work to uphold the memory and gallant service of the officers of the RUC.”
South Down Independent Unionist MLA John McCallister congratulated the organisers on what he said had been a moving service.
