£0.5m legacy to ‘transform’ club
Mr Simms, who died in May of last year aged 80, gift-aided £0.5 million to Carrick Rugby Football Club to refurbish the facilities and grounds at Woodurn Road.
A Carrick RFC stalwart, Mr Simms played rugby at every level for the club, served on a number of committees and was a generous sponsor over the years.

Hide AdBefore he passed away after a courageous battle against cancer, he decided to donate the substantial sum of money to enable the club to build for the future and had wanted a modern and welcoming clubhouse, one that would encourage members and guests to stay and use the facilities.
