Recall after veterinary drug found in Asda corned beef
ASDA which has a branch in Cookstown is recalling all corned beef from its budget range after traces of a veterinary drug were found in some batches.
The Food Standards Agency said ‘very low levels’ of phenylbutazone, commonly known as bute, had been detected in the Asda Smart Price Corned Beef.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said it was the first time the horse painkiller had been found in a meat product in the UK since the scandal started.
