Swiss ski experience for Loreto pupils
The group stayed in the Haut Lac International Centre, Leysin, Switzerland.
The centre is located only a fewminutes’ walk from the Leysin chairlifts and is run by fully qualified instructors, who work with their groups throughout the entire ski day, ensuring safety, progress and lots of fun on the slopes.

Before the students returned to Loreto, they each received a Snowlife Snowsport award, stating the level of proficiency they had achieved during their week’s skiing. The Loreto Year 9 skiers all
made amazing progress, with already advanced skiers taking on the challenge of black runs and first-time skiers taking on blue runs and moving further up the mountain as the week went on.
Alex Mailey, who started the week as a beginner, won third place in the slalom race: an incredible achievement which embodied the positive spirit of the trip.
Teachers Mr Paul Byrne (PE), who organised the trip and Mr Sean Murtagh, Mrs Oonah McEwan, Mrs Maeve Close and Mrs Karen Lagan, who also accompanied the group, paid tribute to the Loreto students for the spirit and energy with which they entered into all the week’s activities.
