Video: Dramatic rescue of walker injured on Slemish
Over 20 volunteers from the team were involved in the rescue on Sunday after they responded to a request from the PSNI to help a walker, reported injured on the mountain.
The woman had suffered an injury to her ankle and after a long and difficult rescue, she was carried to safety by stretcher.

Hide AdA spokesperson for the Rescue Team said: “After a long process, lasting nearly two hours and involving detailed technical equipment and skills and sheer sweat, she was carried safely by stretcher to our colleagues in the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. Some of whom also joined us on the procedure on the hill to administer direct medical care.”
The injured woman was taken to hospital, she posted her thanks on the team’s Facebook page, Vivienne McClenaghan said: “Want to say a massive thank you to all of you for getting me down safely. Am heading for Royal to theatre in the morning, but just glad it’s only my ankle things could’ve been much worse.
“Again I cannot express my gratitude for the emergency services for your help yesterday.”
