Banbridge knocked out of the Jimmy Bruen Foursomes by Lambeg
This was a big opportunity for Hugo Downey’s team to progress into the last 16 in Ulster. The match was played at Edenmore and Banbridge certainly started as strong favourites.
It looked good when Malcolm Russell and Neville Kerr won the top game by 4 and 2.

Their pride was hurt, that’s all. Peter and Garreth had lost by 7 and 5.
Banbridge went back into the lead when Joe Glass and Matthew Mallon won 4 and 3.
Joe and Matthew cannot be faulted in any way. They had the top score in the qualifying round, won their first round match 4 and 3 and won again here by the same score.

Everything now depended on the youthful pairing of Mark McCoy and Adam McGregor.
They did their best but it was just not good enough. Lambeg won this game 4 and 3 and the match overall by 3 games to 2.
This was a superb win for Lambeg and we wish them well in the rest of the competition.
