Ladies' miserable start to season continues with second straight loss
The Ladies slipped to a second successive defeat and they now have a total of only 3 points from their opening games.
Barbara Burnett, Andrea McKeown, Erin Smith and Sarah Jane Coleman had a difficult day against M Shaw, who won the opening 3 ends to open up a 5 shot advantage however the Ballymena ladies appeared to have steadied the ship when they won the next 2 ends to reduce the arrears to 3 shots. Ballymoney however had other ideas and they won the next 9 ends to extend their lead to 18 shots. Coleman’s rink doubled their score on the 15th end when they picked up 2 shots but 5 shots over the remaining ends gave the visitors an emphatic 25-4 victory.

Hide AdJean Rainey, Linda McCullough and Jennifer Dowds took on B Logue and the visitors started off with 2 singles but the next 3 ends belonged to the Braid ladies as they picked up a total of 6 shots. The next 5 ends were a mirror image of the previous ends with the visitors picking up 2 singles and the home rink claiming another 6 shots to lead by 12 shots to 4. Ballymoney were able to reduce the deficit to just 3 shots but a count of 4 shots on the penultimate end ensured that victory would go to the Braid rink with the final score 18-12, adjusted to 13.5-12.
Sile Garvey, Maree Houston, Pat Allen and Barbara Cameron made an excellent start against M Johnston with a count of 4 shots on the first end was followed by two 3’s on the 5th and 7th ends it put the home rink in charge with the score board reading 12-3. Six ends later however it was a different story as the visitors fought back to level the game at 13-13 after 13 ends but Cameron’s ladies were in no mood to give up their point and another brace of 3’s over the remaining ends made the final score 21-15.
